Dr. Mineo is an Associate Member of The American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and currently serves as a member of the ASMBS Integrated Health Section Clinical Issues Committee. Additionally, Dr. Mineo is a National Register Health Service Psychologist.
We do everything we can to verify benefits before the appointment and secure reimbursement for the service. If benefits can't be verified, you have a large deductible, teletherapy is not covered by your plan, or you do not have health insurance, we charge a flat fee of $175.00
Choosing to undergo bariatric/metabolic surgery is a life changing, and sometimes life saving, decision. It will open new patterns in your relationship to self, including eating patterns, body image, coping with past experiences, or navigating how your relationships change as you and your weight change over time.
The evaluation consists of a 45-60-minute clinical interview with Dr. Mineo, in which we will discuss relevant medical and psychiatric history, post-surgical expectations you may have, as well as evaluation of coping skills, social support, and barriers to success, as you adjust to the required lifestyle changes.
You will then complete several clinician administered assessments and self-report questionnaires to further inform the clinicians determination of clearance, and to tailor recommendations specific to each patient to aid in your success pre- and post-surgery.

Dr. Mineo will fax a copy of the report to your surgeon within 24 hours of your video interview. Some patients are under more stringent time constraints and if informed Dr. Mineo can accommodate any needs you may have

Dr. Mineo only uses HIPAA compliant platforms, which complies with insurance companies requirements and increasing the chances of securing reimbursement. When insurance companies cover online teletherapy, they require the use of secure, audio/visual, HIPAA compliant video platforms. Therefore, telephone evaluations can only be conducted if you do not wish to use your health insurance.
Dr. Mineo is uniquely qualified to practice in most US states. She holds a number of active licenses (Pennsylvania, Texas, and Florida) as well as a PSYPACT E-Passport, which provides her with license reciprocity and mobility to practice without restriction in participating states.
